What is lastHello anyway?

lastHello is the first afterlife app that allows you to send any kind of information or message to anyone you choose after your death.

How can lastHello help me?

lastHello can do a great deal for you.
It can deliver comforting words, videos for your loved ones or put your most important login details in the right hands. You alone decide what lastHello should send on your behalf.

What is lastHello doing to protect my data (passwords, etc.)?

lastHello has invested a great deal of time in the security of its platform. We have designed and implemented an incredibly complex security concept. This is also why you only see the description once you store your data and can no longer change your email address.

Is my last will and testament legally enforceable if I send it through lastHello?

No, unfortunately it is not. Under the law, only a fully written and signed last will and testament (i.e., by hand, not digitally) is legally binding. This means that uploading a video will is unfortunately not legally sufficient. However, you can let use your lastHello bequest to tell your loved ones where to find your last will and testament (for example, at your home or the name of the specific notary).

How do I avoid my lastHello incorrectly "declaring me dead"?

The best way is to respond as soon as possible to our emails. In order for us to "declare you dead", a minimum of three messages from us must go unanswered and the emergency contact you set must confirm that you have died. If you are often unreachable for long periods of time, for example if you are travelling abroad, you can adjust the intervals between our messages to be longer to avoid any misunderstandings.

Although you are not required to state an emergency contact, it greatly increases your security. You can adjust your account settings to set how often we should ask about your wellbeing and whether you would like for there to be a waiting period after the last message.

What are bequests?

We refer to any kind of digital information that can be recorded and sent using our system as bequests.

What is the "description" under my bequests and my contacts?

The "description" field allows you to set a label to help you identify a contact or bequest. This is the only information that you will see once after you create the contact or bequest. Once you save your information, all other data are stored in a location not accessible through the Internet. This allows us to ensure that your data are protected against unauthorised access.
If you are concerned about not being able to remember what bequests you previously created, we recommend saving them to your PC beforehand. Then you’ll always have an overview of what information is currently up to date.

Will my contacts be informed that I have added them here?

Normally we send your contacts a short confirmation message. If you’d would prefer us not to do this, you can tick the corresponding box to tell us this when creating the contact.

Can I change my information after registering?

Of course you can. You have full control over your lastHello at all times, and are free to add, change and delete information once you log in.

Why can’t I see the messages and information I created any more after saving them?

That’s all part of our security system! Our highest priority is the security of your data and your lastHellos. To be 100% sure that your data never fall into the wrong hands, your information is sent to a separate platform not connected to the Internet. The only visible information that remains is the description, which lets you know what kind of information it is.

Are my data and contacts secure?

How does lastHello even know that I’m still alive?

We will send you periodic emails to make sure that you are still alive. In these messages, you can either click a link to give us a sign of life or log in to your lastHello account.

Can I set the intervals at which the “I’m still alive” messages are sent?

Yes. After logging in to lastHello you have the option of changing the interval under “Settings”. You can also set an emergency contact or a waiting period under this menu item.
We will contact your emergency contact if we have not received any signs of life from you once this waiting period has elapsed.
The waiting period is designed for unforeseeable circumstances before we send out your lastHellos.

What happens if I miss one or more "I’m still alive" messages?

We send three emails to check up on you! We can also contact your emergency contact if you have added one. If all of these messages go unanswered and the waiting period has passed, we have to assume the worst and your lastHellos will be activated.

Can I change or delete bequests?

What options do I have with the lastHello App?

With our lastHello App for Android and iOS you will be enabled to do any action that lastHello provides. Thus you can create and manage all your digital bequests easiely with your smartphone.

Benefits with the smartphone app

If you use our smartphone App for Android or iOS your "alive state" will be automatically updated, as soon as you use login once within the app. On top oft that you can upload all your phone data (pictures, videos or documents) directly as a digital heritage. Android -> Your lastHello-sate will be automatically updated, when you unlock your smartphone or login into the app. iOS -> Your lastHello-state will be updated using push-notifications which you can aknowledge.

Also logging in into the app will update your state.

If your state updates are missing, we will fallback to email-alive-question and emergency contact.
